History

Charming village considered for the quality of its wine. More than 85% of the cultivated grounds are vine. Roaix is the smallest appelation “Coasts of the Rhone Village”. Before the templiers were only one ground of évèque of Vaison.

But in 1138 Arnaud de Bedos, commander of Richerenches, comes to found there a house of the temple, which obtains its autonomy in 1148. The village, of recent creation in time, does not seem to have had rampart.

The castle, on the point more raised, built by Vaesc in XVIeme century, several times restored, presents a principal body of building whose angles were to be supported turns, if they all were built. Do not remain in place that that of sd-is, that of the North-East was demolished and one does not raise any trace of both others.
