History

Sablet, Vaucluse. Vins, appellation Villages, Cotes-du-Rhone, Vin de Pays. Dentelles de Montmirail.A small and picturesque village ensconced in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, famed, like the neighboring villages, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Séguret ... for the excellent wines it produces.

The name of the village has not evolved for centuries: Sableto (1253). Sablet became part of the pontifical domains in 1274 and was never enfeoffed.

The village curls around the Church of Saint-Nazaire (14th c.), the highest point inthe village. Sablet still has its 14th century ramparts, as well as beautiful towers.

The event not to be missed is the Salon du Livre (The book festival) which takes place every July and attracts the biggest names in French literature.
